What is the Haunt Industry Survey?
We created HauntPay’s annual Haunt Industry Survey because we saw a need for more up-to-date data about what’s happening in our community. One of our team members was trying to do some research on the state of the haunt industry, and realized that there isn’t a reliable source of recent research about the Haunt Industry.
So, we decided to make one ourselves! HauntPay has been your source for scary simple ticketing & payments for the past nine years. One of our biggest goals has always been to help others in the Haunt Industry grow their businesses. That starts with understanding the opportunities, threats, and trends that haunters face.
What was in the 2024 Report?

Thanks to all of you, there were TONS of insights into the current state of our industry in the 2024 Haunt Industry Report. You can download the entire report FREE by clicking the button below. But if you’re in a hurry, here are a few facts from last year’s report:
- Haunt owners understand that guests who are standing in line are not spending money. More than three out of every four haunts (78.4%) are using a VIP entrance or skip-the-line pass to offer guests a shorter wait while increasing revenue.
- Paid and organic digital strategies are gaining steam at a higher rate than we’ve ever seen before. Digital advertising jumped from 36.5% in 2023 to more than 80% in 2024.
- Haunters give back to their communities at a higher rate than most industries. 53% of haunt owners said they are affiliated with a nonprofit organization, either by donating a portion of their proceeds or through direct ownership.
- Ticket sales remain the biggest revenue generator for a whopping 86.3% of haunted attractions.
